South of the Peaks

wolf pond

An awesome camp site and relatively easy hike in with unmatched scenery and wildlife. We heard coyotes, and owls, and loons all night. Saw a billion stars and a ton of shooting stars. Were there mid August but it's starting to get cold at night!

Near Whiteface and Keene

A hiking day

A nice two-part hike through near Whiteface Mountain where we found ourselves overlooking the valley from the north. We walked through snow and a little water, and then went down through Keene and found ourselves hiking up toward this awesome very tall and very narrow waterfall.  It was a very fun day!

Highest Mountain in New York!

Mt Marcy Camp-Hike

Mount Marcy is the highest peak in the New York State. On May  24th we decided that we wanted to hike to the top of that peak. And so we did. But not just hike, but primitive-camp hike!  It was an amazing two-day trip to the top and we had a blast!  Burning rocks, net tents, wind, animals of the night, a mink!

Hiking, camping, climbing trip!

Giant Mountain

Giant mountain was amazing. We lugged up our climbing gear, tents, food, and everything we needed for a couple of days. We sat with a frog for a while. Climbed an amazing mountain. Scaled some wall faces, and had a blast!

Hike and Camp

algonquin peak

A long rainy hike and camp up to Algonquin Peak, the second tallest peak in New York State. It was a super rainy weekend, with pouring rain, flash flood warnings, an inability to make a fire in extremely wet conditions, slippery rocks, and nature. Mighty mighty nature. It was awesome!
